You missed the point.  Bob is a good reporter.  The issue that I tried
to present
was that there is a general perception that a news story actually represents
the truth as well as contains some facts of value.  It is hardly reasonable to
think that a story written in one hour before press time is being written by a
person that tested the software, saw the software or even has a grasp of the
software.  If at least a day or two were spent on the article then far
more value
would be contained therein.

The issue was that we are the ones that are guilty of holding it up to the light
and saying "golly gee, look, a story in the press about brandZ".  I have far
greater respect for the blogs written by the people that actually dig in there
and get dirty.  Journalism has had its day but the sun has set.  The printed
word written in less than an hour no longer has any real value.  The concept
of "buzz" is even more silly.  Are sales really driven in this way?

At this point, I have almost stopped looking at SlashDot and all but given up
on the trade rags.
