Great idea ! I personally would appreciate such an area, since I support, deploy, architect and administer most of the time. There must be plenty of people out there that work with Solaris/Sparc/X86 everyday in almost all sectors of IT, except for coding. It's very difficult (my opinion) to become part of the OS movement since it feels as though "coding" is the only way to contribute.
It's difficult to find time to contribute by generating code, especially since I'm not an active coder. It's easier to contribute by using Open Solaris everyday on different platforms (X86-64 AMD, P-M Laptop, various Sun machines that come past the office) for testing and general work. Yes, I can wiz up some C (of debatable quality), but after work and play there are only those hours between 1-5 am available for that ... ;) This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
