cdparanoia is an unmaintained (since 5 years) program that is 100% non-portable
and does not run on UNIX (it is Linux only).
cdparanoia is a hack based on a 9 year old version of ccda2wav, it added
a libcdparanoia to cdda2wav.
The cdda2wav code has never been updated since then.
4 years ago, I did take the unmaintained libcdparanoia sources and made them
has highly portable as the rest of cdrtools. Then I fixed at least a dozen of
bugs and integrated libparanoia into the real cdda2wav.
People who still use cdparanioa seem to live in a distant past.
Cdda2wav is currently the best known DAE program for good CDs, for scratched
CDs _and_ for defective by design 'CDs'.
