This continues until the system is rebooted.
Sounds at least partly familiar for me. Does the system become sluggish
after a few hours? I too saw strange CPU utilisation jumps, strange
statistics counters, etc.
Anyone else see this? Is there a fix?
My problem was related to the bug below

Haven't heard that Dual Opterons were also affected. But the bug is a BIOS
issue, no processor issue. Since Opterons are targeted for another market
than Athlon64, they usually don't program activate those fancy power saving
features into the BIOS. Maybe not in your case.
