Hi Devi, X11 with auto-configuration can be added without much trouble since all the required pieces are already present in BeleniX and can be re-used in any OpenSolaris distro -
* The Xorg 6.9 sources with an appropirate host.def for compiling with gcc downloadable from sarovar.org . * The DDC query utility (ddcxinfo-belenix) for fetching monitor EDID information also downloadable as source from sarovar.org. * The Perl script /usr/bin/fix.pl to perform post-configuration. * The /lib/svc/method/xserver script and the associated XML file having the SMF service manifest. This script will require some tweaking. However GNOME is a different story. A CDROM (700MB) just does not have enough space to accommodate GNOME and applications. I have just finished enhancing the lofi kernel module to add support for transparent decompression. So all of /usr can be stored in a specially formatted compressed file - using Zlib. This will allow packing in almost 1.8 GB of stuff in one CD and will allow things like KDE, Gnome, OpenOffice etc. In addition it improves performance. I am currently testing the module. On preliminary testing I have found that bootup to the Xfce desktop takes less than 3 minutes where on the same hardware it earlier used to take more than 7 minutes. Firefox 1.5 starts up in less than 30 seconds where earlier it used to take more than 2 minutes. This will benefit all OpenSolaris distros putting out LiveCDs. Regards, Moinak. Devi Munandar wrote:
thank joerg....., after I tried iso file can be made and become livecd. can schillix kit file added the X and Gnome, my intention by addition of script at Package-base or Package-extention so that Schillix liveCD can walk by using GUI like Nexenta or of Belenix?
