I agree. There are a lot of ongoing issues that need to be discussed and would benefit from having this community.
Topics I can think of include functionality improvements in LDAP, that would lead to it's wider acceptance, migration strategies to move off NIS+ or NIS, and the improvements that are needed to aid in migration from these legacy naming services. I think this community would also be a great place to discuss the interoperability issues that result from integrating multi-platform naming environments (Active Directory, Solaris/Linux) and things that can be done to improve these efforts. Finally I think a naming services community would be a good open forum to discuss the design of new interfaces that have been missing from the Solaris/Unix/Linux toolset for far too long.
