Hello,

when I started using Solaris, I used bash as probably most do that used Linux
before. After some time I found out that there some issues with bash concerning
compatibility with other shells. So I investigated the alternatives and finally
started using the tcsh and stuck with it. After all the recent discussions
concerning ksh and its different implementations and versions, I am now
wondering if my decision was good...

Are there similar issues concerning csh/tcsh scripts when it comes to
portability and different versions? Have csh and tcsh also been standardized
like the ksh? I primarly decided for the tcsh as it is available by default in
Solaris and Linux and has easy and convenient history and completion support. I
didn't really expect portability problems concerning scripts. But then I didn't
expect all those issues concerning different implementations of the ksh either.

It would be great if someone could say something about this or point me to any
useful document. I didn't really find anything helpful on opengroup.org.

Cheers,
Tom
