Hmmm... Has anyone tried doing the install from within
VMware? You can give VMware access to a physical disk
or partition. That should at least get through the install
from the CD to an "installed" disk partition.
Getting through the grub magic and/or whatever stuff the mac
uses for boot management would (should) be easier than banging
one's head against the wall trying to boot the CD. :)
Just a thought... I had to do this once back in the early
builds on a "strange" piece of hardware. Once I got the
bits onto the disk, a couple whacks with a crowbar and some
late night head scratching made everything else work.
