Damn. I figured I'd miss something. :) I saw this earlier and was going to comment but missed it. But Stephen commented below. > You can propose new communities or new projects; see > the instructions > at the top of > http://opensolaris.org/os/communities/ > > and > http://opensolaris.org/os/projects/ > for how to do so. Regarding UGs. There is a master user group list so that groups can communicate with each other. That was my intent, anyway, and I think there has been some sharing so that groups can see what other groups are doing. We (Tim Foster, I mean) have built out a really beautiful presentation page that everyone shares based on sending mail to that main list. Traffic is moderate on that list, too. Traffic on the individual lists is spotty -- sometimes high; other times low. Some groups are active; others are just getting started, and I think this is to be expected. Starting user groups is hard, especially in low population areas. I'm fine with this, though. I'd like to let these groups have their space and encourage them to grow. To me, there's real value in enabling user groups to have their own lists to communicate in whatever language they want to address whatever local issue is at hand for their own group. Personally, I'd like to see the individual user group lists grow in number substantially. We only have 20 or so groups -- far below my personal goal, to be honest. A 100 would be nice. And considering the size of the world lately, I think 100 is a workable goal. Regarding internationalization. I agree that many of the lists are not being used, but the main list is. However, again, I don't see a need to propose deleting individual lists because this is an area for growth in the future and it's obviously language-specific. > Interesting.
