If you are the only person who edits passwd & shadow and if you do not plan to
let the machine die while /etc/passwd or /etc/shadow have been truncated,
go ahead....
Unfortunately, it seems that the automated check for
/etc/ptmp
/etc/stmp
from SunOS-4.x have been removed.
