The last time I looked into the sources that did go to universities, it did not
look very portable.

Unless you did also port /bin/sh to Linux and make dmake use this port instead
of bash, you will suffer from bugs and incompatibilities in bash.

If dmake is portable, you would onbly need to call "make" in order to
compile it. Why do you believe you need to port it?
