I don't know what you are talking about.  The driver is already there--it's 
even in the source-code form.  The issue is Sun's engineers never wanted to be 
bothered with it.  Unlike many other more important issues, the situation here 
has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with ASUS.

Gartner had a report which said that white boxes outsold namebrands sixty to 
forty.  Not only that, if there is any chance for someone to try Solaris, it 
will most likely be on one of those tens of millions or so of whiteboxes sold 
every year.

The LAN chipset at issue here is the same LAN chipset that comes embedded with 
those millions and millions of whiteboxes.  (The same LAN chipset is also on my 
HP laptops.)  Go ahead and ignore them.  The only thing I can say is, I am glad 
this not my problem.
