Great, is this project going to be Sparc, x86, or both?

This project is going to be x86, and SPARC with coherent console
support.

What do you mean with "coherent console support" ? Will SPARC (and maybe
even the SunRays) support multiple Xservers + multiple consoles ?

The "coherent console" project is to enhance the Solaris console
architecture to facilitate rendering console output exclusively through
Solaris kernel mechanisms rather than via PROM interfaces on SPARC
platforms, whenever possible. It is similar to what we do on x86
platforms. Not only is utilizing a kernel-resident framebuffer driver to
generate console output significantly more efficient than trapping into
FCode on a per-character basis, but it offers several other advantages.

The virtual console project is based on coherent console project.

The SunRay platforms and multiple Xservers are out of scope for the
virtual console project.

Riny
