I'm in favor of this proposal: GPRS is really useful and it is just a matter of 
configuring a sort of modem connection. The card I use (on winwows :-( is an 
Option globetrotter

I think it is supported by LINUX so porting it should not be too hard but I did 
not find the time to look into it so far. If somebody can tell me how to 
configure a pc-card modem of solaris10/opensolaris it might not take too long . 
Aircard is the other well known manufacturer of gprs cards. I have a card also 
but it passed away and although people from aircard promised me  at an Intel 
meeting to recontact me to exchange it , I never heard of them since.
