Sure?

If I compare the current Solaris and Linux implementations, I prefer the Solaris
version.

Solaris works nicely for the inexperienced user and does not break
in case you add another ethernet card.

Solaris allows the experienced user to control the behavior by editing 
/etc/path_to_inst.

If we change this, we need to do this in a way that does not break things.
