Thanks. I gave this a try. I ran into a couple of problems though. First, the 4GB file limit on the fat32 LBA partition. I can workaround this, no problem.
The second problem I ran into was mounting the partition in Solaris. I think this is because I just created one primary partition on the fat32 drive, but I should have created a logical partition within that. Does that sound right? I followed the tips on http://www.sun.drydog.com/faq/9.html#9.10 regarding mounting dos partitions, but I kept getting an error message saying not a valid FAT partition. Using Linux, I have no problems mounting and accessing the fat32 partition. I created the partition using cfdisk and "mkdosfs -F 32".
