These may have been replied before in a similar vein, but it seems to be that visual panel is much more SMF oriented. That is great for the whole OS. In this case, one size does not fit all here. Single System Adminstration (SSA) fills a gap for the desktop users, in particualr in the developers' space. I believe SSA is Good for the OpenSolaris communities development for the desktop users and developers. This also creates opportunities for communities in particular outside Sun to provide feedbacks and to get their hands dirty. You can say I am biased but I have seen little debates and discussions going on on the visual panel since it was launched in Feb 2006. What is happening there in that space? How is the progress there? when are we going to get somethinmg that end users can use? Though the project scope may overlap slightly does not necessary mean they can not co-exist! They each can fill they own space of needs. -Ghee in the spirit of open Source.
