"-r" to `newfs` works just fine in Solaris 10 1/06. But now that you mentioned it, I'll test Solaris 10 6/06 just to make sure. Send an e-mail to Sarah Jelinek at Sun, she might be able to shed some insight on what is going on here, ig not, she'd likely know whom to ask...
