The DMA-warning looks _exactly_ the same on my SPARCLE500SX via USB2.0 with
exactly the same external burner, cables, DVD-R and DVD+R media (TDK).
But BURN-Free is definitely known to actually function there.
(I noticed that easily when burning some iso over a slow NFS mount.)
Also important to mention: The problems described by myself do not look&feel
like buffer-underrun's.
Not at all.
Also: The buffer and fifo are almost full.
Plus: cdrecord would just recognize a true buffer-underrun and eject the media
("-eject") and quit (and give usefule output).
But what we have here is a much lower level problem between the U20, my
external enclosure (and usb2ide / firewire2ide adaptors) and the ide-burner
itself.
cdrecord is not to blame for this at all.
I therefore assume, an up-to-date version of cdrecord will not solve my issues.
But I'll try that and I'll let you/the list know, if I find a workaround.
However, I already have a workaround: I'll free up some hdd space and then
switch back to my sparcle for burning DVD's :)
