What I did:

I did replace the 2 Opteron 242 by 2 Opteron 275 borrowed from AMD.

So it looks like newer Solaris versions have problems with older
Opteron chips. I believe that this is womething that needs to be solved.

Interesting.  I can't explain why patching ao_model_limit to 0 did not
work - it certainly does in the lab.

From an earlier mail your cpus report as:

cpu0: x86 (AuthenticAMD family 15 model 5 step 1 clock 1600 MHz)

From the AMD revision guide that seems to be revision SH-B3 which
is indeed and old revision (only SH-B0 is earlier).  I'm sure we
have some old chip systems around so I'll try it out in the lab
sometime.
