Hi,

Sorry if this isn't really the place for this, but I've been over the list
archives and the HCL from Sun, and can't find what I'm after.

Very soon we plan on getting a backup archival server (I hate tapes), to run
Solaris on, for ZFS naturally.
It's likely to be a new dual core Xeon, on a Intel 5000P (Blackford) Chipset,
with ESB2/Gilgal 82563EB gig ethernet, probably the X7DB3 from Supermicro.
To run the majority of disks we'll be using a supermicro 8-port SATA card. I'm
not sure if it'll be the DAC-SATA-MV8 or AOC-SAT2-MV8, but I believe both are
supported (one being used in thumper).

Is Solaris likely to install happily on this hardware? Specifically does
anyone know if the on-board SATA controller is going to work? It's an Intel
ESB2, and will be used to boot the machine.

I'm a linux guy, and this will be my first install of Solaris, so go easy
please :)

Thanks
