Why don't you use /opt/csw/bin/pkg-get from http://www.blastwave.org/ ?

Start here: http://www.blastwave.org/howto.html
( Be sure to enter a faster/closer mirror into /opt/csw/etc/pkg-get.conf ! )
CSW's Packages collection is much more complete (than i.e. sunfreeware's
or ccd/dvd's).
In fact, it is the most complete Solaris Freeware collection ever created.
Plus gets updated more frequently.
It certainly also features "the better compiler flags" someone mentioned
(what exactly was meant, cpu-isa optimization, example ??).

It's getting more complete/more versatile every hour: I only yesterday
did a full CSW install to a new x64 box ("yes|pkg-get -i all").
I have to admit, that I myself was was quite a bit schocked then, but
see yourself:

Wow, it's circa 9GB currently.
Damn, it doesn't even fit onto a DualLayer-LiveDVD anymore.

cheers,
martin

p.s. You can of course also join the project and create/maintain your
own packages there ;-)
