We have been experiencing some very odd database problems over the last few days that seem to have peaked in the last 24 hours.

At present, adding and editing pages or announcements only works intermittently. We are rolling back to an older MySQL driver to see if alleviates the issue.

I'll post more once we get a better handle on what is happening.

Ok, I think we have this semi-resolved. The situation is that the Lucene search index was getting corrupted, possibly due to a bug in Lucene that was causing a stale lock file which then made it impossible to write certain objects to the database.

I say "semi" b/c we do not know the exact cause of the index corruption, however the site seems to be working properly now if we destroy any bad Lucene file locks and rebuild the index.

The next steps are to roll out a new version of Lucene in the next day or so and change how the system handles the file locking and index rebuilds after a system restart.

We are also going to see how we can modify page creation/editing so that an indexing failure does not block the other object creation tasks.

If you run into more issues, please post them to website-discuss.

Thanks to everyone for your patience.
