In any UNIX you should NEVER run as root.
The reason I ask is that I installed NetBeans5.0 under root and when I
log in under another name I can not run NetBeans because I guess of
permissions.
So since it is your own personal workstation how does one set it up.
Start by adding a user for yourself.
If you are new to Solaris login as root and run /usr/sbin/smc and use
that to create yourself a user account.
Then install netbeans as that user.
