Solaris comes with Samba server, which is managed by SMF,
you don't need to download elsewhere.
# svcs -a | grep samba
online 17:49:11 svc:/network/samba:default
You shall see an entry like that, probably "disabled" instead of "online".
To enable Samba, first create/edit or copy your smb.conf file to
/etc/sfw directory,
then use 'svcadm enable samba' command to start Samba.
After that, the same svcs command should return 'online'.
Hope you're familiar with SMF, if not, you can read manpages or online
documents.
