but you'd get better support with > an nVidia video card. > > Ian >
This is what I always thought (I had not used ATI cards except in notebooks). The reason I decided to give the Radeon card a shot was b/c of the recent event of AMD having purchased ATI, & thus, the anticipated fraternization b/t Sun & ATI's graphic chips. Sort of betting on the future. However, I did find something quite unexpected, in that, out of box (i.e., w/o tweaking the xorg.conf file & installing proprietary drivers), I have a lot of problems (almost thought Solaris crashed) browsing certain websites using nVidia cards, e.g.: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/?cnn=yes whether the Flash is turned on or off. However, the problems were substantially subsided with the new (but relatively cheap) ATI card. Even with the stupid built-in ATI XPress 200 graphic chip, the situation was much tolerable. But the VESA driver does not support TV-out. Or does it? This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
