People are correct on many topics. This is quite a challenge, but also easy in the fact that the hardware platform is pretty much locked for the next five years (no major changes in the motherboard or hardware expected).
Since this is PowerPC-based on the core part of the Cell, I'll post follow up information over on the powerpc-discussion board, unless Sun thinks it should be its own project.
