In my opiion they serve no purpose at all. Unless something legally needs a signature on it then why print anything? Maybe for the sight impaired but really, why re we still killing trees? What happened to the dream of the
paperless office ?

I never had such a dream; I like paper. A screen doesn't look like paper. A screen doesn't smell like paper. A screen can't be easily folded up and taken with you to read while sitting in the doctor's office waiting room.

I get serious eye strain when I try to read long documents on a screen. If I have to read something long, I print it out and read it from paper. It's also much quicker and easier to make notes in the margin than to type out changes on a screen (especially if the document is in some non-easily modifiable form such as PDF or PS).

Side by side comparison of non-text is easier with paper than trying to pull up two screens or have to constantly switch between two windows.
