Tyan B2865 board works well with Solaris. I believe this or a similar Tyan model is used in the Sun Ultra20 workstation as well. The B2865 supports one single or dual core 100 series, socket 939 Opteron processor. I have it working with the socket 939 dual core Opteron 165 "Venice" procesor.
The Tyan S2892 works even better. This board supports up to two, single or dual core socket 940 Opteron 200 series processors. I have that one working with two dual core 265 "Italy" processors. Finally, I also have very positive experiences with the ASUS PSCH-LR motherboard, found in the ASUS AP-140 1U servers. To my knowledge this board supports up to one 3.4GHz 32-bit Pentium4 processor. I have it running with a 3.2GHz P4 with hyper threading. Solaris recognizes this as two virtual 3.2GHz processors.
