good example is how CD audio works fine on x86 with build 54, but not on my
SB2k. It's little things like that which should not be overlooked. I know much
of the development is happening on x86/x64 these days. But SPARC is still
important for developers, sysadmins, and of course production environments.
Seeing how the T1 platform has taken off, I'd be will to say that SPARC is
alive and well.

The CD/DVD problem is only caused by the broken (or let us call them outdated)
ATA drivers used on Solaris/Sparc.

developers, etc. As things stand, the Ultra25 and Ultra45 are a bit expensive
which pressures users to buy an x64 box.

You either pay another ~ 10 Million for the chip mask
or you just use the unmodified T1.

The problem is the clock rate. For a woekstation, I would
like to see a 2-4 core system with at least 1.8 GHz clock.

SATA would be OK.

Why not DB25?
