Non-Sun people are free to work on whatever project they like. Any Sun
people who want to work on this particular project will have to talk to
their managers and legal because their participation will only be
possible if they can prove they have never seen the closed code.
If specifications are required, Sun people who know the code can write
specifications, but I have no idea whether anyone would be available to
do that work any time soon.
