Have you seen the following? http://www.opensolaris.org/os (top page) -> http://www.opensolaris.org/os/about/faq/ (FAQ Center) -> http://www.opensolaris.org/os/about/faq/general_faq/ http://www.opensolaris.org/os/about/faq/getting_started_developers/ ihttp://www.opensolaris.org/os/about/faq/sca_faq/
(top page) -> http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/on/ (Nevada Development [Nevada: release after Solaris 10]) -> http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/on/devref_toc/ I know I missed a few in terms of your list (don't recall how to navigate to hg and svn info, for example), and just finding everything on your list and putting it together certainly isn't as easy as it should be. But most of the info is probably out there...somewhere. If a developer quick start guide such as you describe existed, and I was using it, I think I'd want it in a frame, with references (including a glossary) on the left, and links to more detailed info inline as they came up (and probably some duplicates between the two). And I think I'd want the links set up to open in a new window by default, so that I could drill down for detail while still not losing my place in the top-level list. But maybe that's just me; some people may find that to be annoying or distracting. Once there was such a page, I think it might be appropriate as a seventh graphically bulleted item on the top page, although reducing the size of the big open(2) graphic to about half hight/width might be good, to make more room.
