I was reading Moinak Ghosh's blog about Belenix 0.6 improvements:
http://blogs.sun.com/moinakg/entry/belenix_dvd_with_netbeans_openoffice#comments
and I'm a bit interested in the application development futures in OpenSolaris.
He is including Netbeans 5.5 and Java EE Application Server 9.0 U1 which I
assume
is what Moink wants developers to develop applications with Belenix in the
future? Or
is this some sort of general direction of OpenSolaris development because the
Sun Studio compiler is not redistributable and Java EE is the only future
direction for OpenSolaris?
The DVD will include more than that. It already has gcc and KDevelop.
But Java stuff is
a nice addition. Supporting one of the most popular development
platforms/languages
available makes it more attractive. Netbeans 5.5 now also has the
C/C++ module.
As per one of the comments on my blog redistributing SUN Studio
requires a formal
process to be undertaken which I will take up soon.
Regards,
Moinak.
I would have commented directly in the blog but there seems to be some sort of 2 blog
comment limit and comments are closed on the Sun blogs page.
