I'm all for making this pluggable without requiring modifying kernel source, I personally just don't know enough about the area to know when it is needed and you have sparked my interest to learn why.

Dolphin's interest in this is to port our low-latency "SuperSockets" [1] to Solaris. Other modules will likely be SDP, TCTP, RDS, and others.
