Thanx for replies. Glad to see replies from the top engineer's from Sun and
from other companies. No doubt Sun Microsystems is a equal opportunity employer
and i guess stands in worlds richest and most renowned companies.

Everything about Sun hardware, software is excellent. Just 2 minutes of
downtime in a 365 days is enough for Sun servers. Windows cant stand anywhere
around I bet.
But, the point is, how many engineers, administrators in country like India,Sri
Lanka,Bangaladesh,Pakista, UAE are aware of latest technology introduced by Sun.

How many engineering students know about the portofolio of Sun Microsystems not
just in Java thing but also in Servers and Soalris OS ?

The answer is > not more than 20 % for sure.

Sun is famous in US & Europe. No doubt. May be Sun Microsystems is not really
interested to advertise there OS related product & server produts in South
Asia. Or may be it's a communication gap between Marketing people and dealers
who deal in Sun hardware and other products.

Well, Singapore,Japan,China,Philipines,Malaysia = No doubt these countries
know Sun well and they use Sun hardware, software everything.

I just went to computer institutes to find Sun education. And i was shocked,
nobody offer training for Solaris 10. Well doesn't matter, commands & rest of
the things are same in Solaris 9 & in 10. But they should introduce Solaris 10
track.

Secondly, I never seen any events organized by Sun Microsystems in cities in
India
. ( Yes there are events but they are 3~4 days long events and only available
in selected 2~3 bigger indian cities with the cost os 100 US$ onwards ) Just i
went to a event 2 months ago in my city organized by Sun. The reason> as they
opened a R & D center in my city. Is that all ? Engineer's, administrators want
to
see demo's, presentations and want to have talks with Sun people face to face.

And at this point Microsoft grabbed the whole market in India. Well, these all
are different topic's. TCO and blah blah blah. Microsoft really advertises a
lot about its product, they have MVP program which encourages people to
contribute and the effect of all this = quick support for Microsoft OS any
time, anywhere . ( Could Sun think of starting activities like Microsoft? Which
could boost awareness of OpenSolaris 10 & ofcourse Sun hardware? Apple
currently for promotion purpose offers 3 years warranty on i macs sold in
India.)

I never seen any frequent event by Sun Microsystems in my city. Same with
Apple. We have 8 mac machines. Support of Apple is poor.

All I want to say, companies still prefer Windows platform because TCO is low.
Solaris is FREE. But it's like "White elephant is free" for you. Whats next ?
Ha..
Appoint a engineer who is experienced Solaris admin and other things. ANd it's
the fact compare to Windows/Linux admins , there are less Solaris engineers.

Alright then, I dont mean to fight, but it is true. You all are sitting at
United States, Europe & in famous cities in India like Bangalore which is the
IT hub from the beginning. But not me, not rest of the engineer's. It's a
comment come suggesion, "Hey Sun guys come and reach to us". And show the power
of Sun hardware & OS. Presentation, online videos are not 100 % useful to get
information about what particular company deals in. Last month Microsoft guys
showed added features in Exchange 2007 , NORTEL showed how is it possible
voice, video, data over IP phone-Exchange-PDA's and normal EPBX lines using
NORTEL's IP phone. Ahh it was product advertisement but good 1. :) Atleast now
people know what NORTEL do..Hehe !! .
