Yes. I did that a number of times. You are right in that the
stmsboot(1M) doesn't copy
your data from local (non-FC) drive to your SAN storage. It does,
however, takes care
of setting all the OpenBoot environment to let it boot from it. You
may use LU to move
your OS image into your SAN storage.

There are more than one way of making this work. I'd use stmsboot, but
you are free
to explore other ways if you feel like stmsboot is not appropriate.
