What worries me is that if Indiana is some third thing between
Solaris and Linux then apps will never be ported past Indiana, making
the availability of applications on Solaris actually suffer.

Perhaps like the effect that WinOS2 had on OS/2 ?  Windows better than
Windows was the IBM message of the day and they were right. No one
needs apps for OS/2 anymore.

No .. somehow I think that sort of thing is not in the works again.
