The key words were "well rounded" and "system administrators" - basically there was a guy that had no background in UNIX and Sun hardware, let alone Solaris, hired to be all things system administration to everyone. Now try to imagine what those Solaris systems he "administrated" looked like... I have more horror stories like that, that I had the misfortune of experiencing. Like me speccing up a nice 280R system (this was years ago) with Solaris 8 to run Apache, ASP Chilisoft and PHP, and subsequently a "sysadmin" with "10 years UNIX sysadmin experience on Solaris", coming in and doing a `make; make install` of Apache and PHP because "packages are just too complicated and hard to do, and take way too much time." Oh does that make me bitter. _________________________________________________________________ Explore the seven wonders of the world http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=7+wonders+world&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE_______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
