Used Sun Blade 2000, 2x1.05GHz CPU. Decent performance,
reasonable price. Larger drives also off of eBay, ditto.

Very latest 4.x. Definite performance problems on simple
Logitech headset (some passages at certain frequencies had
audible noises typical of performance problems, and enabling
more than one of equalization and some other effect via
ossxmix reduced the quality to utterly intolerable; an email
I got said in effect that they hadn't done much for SPARC
optimization yet). Also, Audigy NX USB doesn't work, period.
(closer but no cigar with native USB audio drivers). The OSS
person also more or less acknowledged that too. I presume
they're working on it as time and resources allow, and that
in the not all that distant future, it'll all be sorted out. I just
wish it were sooner than later, so that I could have some
nice GUI sheet music/composition/MIDI editing tools (not
to mention better multimedia stuff) on [Open]Solaris for SPARC.
I can't play anything or sight-read worth a hoot, but with something
that plays MIDIs while highlighting the notes, I could probably get better
at the latter, and with a really friendly composition editor, the former
might not matter so much.
