Nevertheless, I cannot attribute its success to popularity. I suspect cost, familiarity, Microsoft, etc. were all greater factors in its hold. But I digress, this is offtopic. Popularity alone is not enough to prove that one item is better than another or that it should be adopted simply because it is popular. If that were the case, Linux is the most popular "UNIX-like" OS, so what's the point in using anything else?
