I hate to say this, but it would seem that Solaris just plain has to beat the
living daylights out of the competition. Once that happens, even the most
entrenched Slashdot fanboy won't be able to waffle any more.

I'm sure that the hardcore Linux fanatics will take the challenge to beat
Solaris. Well, good luck to them. They won't stand a chance against structured
engineering. Not thinking things through always comes back in one form or
another.

I'd much rather not be on the sinking iceberg together with the sitting penguin
when that thing goes under. It's the global warming effect, after all.

Partially. You can bring a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink.
Slashdot fanboys have been making fun of Solaris for ages now, and every time
the OpenSolaris community made good on their promises, they just found another
excuse. You want to talk about fanboy blind hate, all you have to do is read
the Slashdot comments on any Sun topics, especially Solaris ones.

"What, Slowlaris still exists?"

Some of those guys will only come around if their sitting penguin OS is beat to
a pulp by Solaris. Like when somebody needs a good whack to come around to
their senses. Others are just a lost cause, and we are actually doing the
OpenSolaris community a disservice by trying to go after them, which is what
seems to be the trend.
