I'm not sure what you mean by that?  Clearly if the system
does hang after POST there's nothing you can do even with
linux as the system is broken.

If, however, you can tell it to boot from alternate location
such as, e.g., the network, then it'll boot from the network.

As with Linux, *if* you can manage to netboot the system,
then you can do pretty much anything with it.

(And that has been possible since Solaris supports PXE
boot which must be around 7 odd years now)
