Summary:

Provide source code for the Emulex Fibre Channel device driver that operates
in the Leadville environment.

Overview:

We propose the creation of a new project on opensolaris.org, to allow us to
contribute our source code for the emlxs device driver to the community.
This driver is already included in the Solaris 10 operating system
distribution (in binary format). The source code would be provided under the
Sun CDDL version 1.0 license.

The emlxs driver was created by Emulex to operate as an FCA driver in the
Leadville storage stack. It controls the operation of Emulex Fibre Channel
adapters in the Solaris operating system. By open sourcing this device
driver, we will enhance OpenSolaris as a storage platform.

Motivation:

To allow community access to this source code for development of new
features and behaviors.
To solicit input from Fibre Channel users to better understand and
prioritize new features.

The initial leader of this project would be:

Qiang Liu

I am not sure how is it counted now, that new rules are in effect, but here
is my +1 to this proposal.
