Problem is, 99.9% (at least) of every day users aren't worth their keep in 
oxygen.

Is there a correlation between non-freeloader (actual or probable
contributor or paying customer) and shell of preference?  I doubt it.
In fact, I suspect preferences are more evenly distributed among
non-freeloaders than among "every day users", because I suspect
they're likely to have tried more than one.

If you're professional enough to make an informed choice, then
it's certainly no problem for you to choose /usr/bin/bash rather than
accepting /usr/bin/sh (or /sbin/sh for root) as the default.
