Terry, it's great to know that Qlogic HBAs works great in Solaris, as
I know first-hand since my HBA of choice are the 23xx and 24xx types,
along with SANbox switches. But to "join OpenSolaris" takes a bit
more than generating a white paper from the marketing department to
trumpet the goods.
So, in short, what can we expect from Qlogic in terms of engagement
on a technology level with the OpenSolaris community? Would anyone
else from Qlogic like to introduce themselves? The denizens of the
storage-discuss mailing list would be quite interested in the
details, I'm sure.
As the overseer of a "Qlogic only" shop, I'm quite exited about the
direction Qlogic is going, but I am perplexed by it starting off on
more of a marketing footing rather than a technical one, as the
OpenSolaris community is by and large a technology-oriented beast.
