I use SXDE on my HP Compaq nx6325, works pretty well
It's got an Turion64 with a gig of RAM
Tech specs here:
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/321957-321957-64295-321838-89315-1849082.html

These are the things that do _not_ work:

1) Fingerprint recognition (does not work in linux as well)
2) Media Card reader (works in linux)
3) Volume / Multimedia keys (works in linux)
4) Wireless (Broadcom-based , works in linux have _not_ tried out
ndiswrapper in SXDE)

With linux i mean Ubuntu 7.10 amd64

I really have no complaints with SXDE on this box.
Since i use the laptop mainly in office, i really have not compared the
battery backup in SXDE wrt Linux or win xp.

Thanks
