You would like to look into the several build-enviroments/toolkits which kind of encapsulate the compile/prepare-for-install steps. The files get installed into a tempraty path and then packaged into a clean Solaris Package. This one carries the informations which files go into which place and asks the operator for intervention, if existing files are beeing overwritten. But the best thing with these toolskits is, that you start building your software with recipes. To repast the same jobs for e.g. a new software-release, simply modify the software-version number in the recipe and recompile (including your own patches). o google for guides around package creation (sometimes difficult to learn, and still the old manual method) These toolkits come into mind: o SFE repository for RPM-like recipes (build with pkgtool/pkgbuild) o pmpkg Thomas -- ********************************************************************* Thomas Wagner Tel: +49-(0)-711-720 98-131 Strategic Support Engineer Fax: +49-(0)-711-720 98-443 Global Customer Services Cell: +49-(0)-175-292 60 64 Sun Microsystems GmbH E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Zettachring 10A, D-70567 Stuttgart http://www.sun.de Sitz der Gesellschaft: Sun Microsystems GmbH, Sonnenallee 1, D-85551 Kirchheim-Heimstetten Amtsgericht Muenchen: HRB 161028 Geschaeftsfuehrer: Wolfgang Engels, Dr. Roland Boemer Vorsitzender des Aufsichtsrates: Martin Haering _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
