Fair enough...you may want to look into ZFS at some stage which makes 
"partition/slice" management (as such) a cinch.

/tmp lives on a special filesystem called swapfs (which contains, amoung 
other things, the swap file system itself and potentially some/all of 
the free memory). It's best to leave it like.

(Also, unlike many linuxes expect things in /tmp to disappear on every 
reboot).

I'm not sure if this question belongs on [osol-help] (the help mailing 
list) or not -) I'm happy to answer but I *think* that's possibly a 
better list to ask such questions on.
