So, if I do something that messes the X server up, and gui tools are no longer available, what is the quick-n'-dirty way to fix things? I'm asking because I already did that, and the only thing I could do was a hard reset. Killing Xorg with ctrl-alt-backspace didn't fix things of course, as the respawning Xorg read from a bad .xorg.conf file.
