I am copying pertinent portions of the installation instructions below (edited
for OOo 2.3)

* * *

(After you have downloaded and exacted all the packages, cd to the "packages"
subdirectory then follow the following steps:)

6. To permanently avoid recurring queries at the installation, you
should produce an
  admin file with the following content:
        action=nocheck
        conflict=nocheck
        idepend=nocheck.
  You can do this with the following commands:
        echo action=nocheck >admin
        echo conflict=nocheck >>admin
        echo idepend=nocheck >>admin
7. Install the packages with:
        pkgadd -a admin -d . openofficeorg*
8. Install any language packs needed for OpenOffice.org.

Although Solaris Express now comes with StarOffice8, I am interested in OOo 2.3
because of the following reasons:

1. SO8 does not include CJK language packs, and I don't how, or if it is
possible, to use the OOo language packs for SO8. (CJK language packs are
included in a separate suite called StarSuite.)

2. Some Chinese characters are garbled in SO8 when running under Solaris
Express (inclusive of SXDE3 & SXCE 72), I want to see whether this problem is
solved in OOo 2.3 (unfortunately the answer is not yet--this appears to be more
of an OS problem).

3. Solaris 10u4 still comes with SO7 (not a complaint, but simply stating the
fact, as the SO8 licenses are very inexpensive).

An addition to my "complaint" that I failed to mention in my original message:
The readme file contains a .jar file, but there are no instructions as to how
to run the setup as a java program.
